The brand new Hanse 460 sailboat won the “European Yacht of the Year 2022” award in the highly competitive “Family Cruiser” category. Despite the second year of the pandemic, the jury made up of 12 European nautical journalists, who curate as many specialized magazines in the sector, managed to test all the boats in the water  and despite the strong competitors in the end Hanse 460 won the deserved victory.

“European Yacht of the Year 2022” in the “Family Cruiser” category is one of the most important prizes awarded and rewards the best sailboat of the year built for family cruises that stood out for innovation, performance, comfort, construction, aesthetics and value for money.

After last year’s victory of the Bavaria C42 sailboat of the Bavaria Yachts shipyard designed by the Italian Maurizio Cossutti, this year it was again the turn of another large shipyard of Germany HanseYachts AG based in the city of Greifswald (Baltic Sea) to win this important recognition.

The new Hanse 460 is the result of the close collaboration between the HanseYachts AG shipyard and the French naval studio Berret – Racoupeau who designed the boat for the German shipyard.

It is the first time that the Hanse shipyard and the French studio have created a boat together and this award certainly opens up a future for subsequent collaborations and seems to indicate a new way for the shipyard.

Not everyone was initially enthusiastic about entrusting the French studio with the design of this new boat. This choice arose because it was decided to hold an international tender for the design of Hanse boats. The drawings by the Berret – Racoupeau studio are the ones that most convinced the yard’s management.

Il Berret – Racoupeau Yacht Design is a world-famous naval architecture and design studio born in 1983 thanks to Jean Berret and Olivier Racoupeau, the team of this prestigious studio is constantly evolving with the inclusion of new young architects and naval engineers with new ideas that are always welcomed with great pleasure and attention.

Since BRYD was established, it has signed the design of numerous and beautiful super modern boats at the time of launch, choosing “balance” as the key words of its projects balance in stability, balance in lines, balance in costs.

Therefore, Hanse’s decision to entrust the French studio with the design of this new boat seems to have given excellent results.

The boat has a design with modern and elegant lines with a fresh, clean appearance where a perfect balance of surfaces and volumes has been achieved between deck and interior.

The base price of this boat is 245.900 euros (excluding VAT) and the first deliveries will start in the spring of this year 2022 with over 150 models already sold before any sea trial which decree the real success of this boat.

New owners are asking for more and more sailing boats where it is a pleasure to sail in any condition, safe and easy to manage by a limited crew, whether for short two-day cruises or longer ones. With the deck that must be more and more liveable during navigation but above all when standing still either at anchor or in a port, with ever greater space below deck to be dedicated to the cabins to insert new elements of comfort. The hull must have a very stable and performing hull with a draft that allows you to enter every tourist port in the world.

The Hanse 460 is an interesting response to the demands of this market.
