48 Wallytender first Wally yacht from the Ferretti age

The Ferretti group, the largest Italian luxury motor yacht manufacturer, buys the Wally brand, a manufacturer of luxury yachts and high-performance cruise engines, thus continuing its expansion program dictated by an accurate strategic development plan. Wally Yachts will also enter a group where prestigious historic brands are present in the construction of boats such as Ferretti Yachts, Riva, Pershing, Itama, Mochi Craft, CRN and Custom Line.

For the acquisition of Wally based in Monte Carlo, founded by Luca Bassani, the sum paid by the group is likely to be around 30 million euros.

A negotiation announced for some time that many fans were convinced by now that it was no longer concluded for which the official communication caught by surprise a bit ‘all. With this exclusive license agreement of the Wally brand, the Ferretti group will enter the world of sailing boats for the first time. In the agreement, the group is expected to invest more than 84 million euros in the four-year period 2019-2022 for the design and construction of the next products of the brand and find a dedicated site for the development of this activity because Wally from a some time it no longer owns a building site for the engineering of its products.

However, it seems that the solution has already been found all the new Wally products will be made in the Ferretti Group’s Italian factories while the large shipbuilding will be developed at the Ferretti shipyard in Ancona.

With regard to the agreement reached, the managers have thus expressed:

The lawyer Alberto Galassi, managing director of Ferretti Group

“There has long been a mutual fascination between us and Wally and from today we will continue to develop this extraordinary brand with method, vision and investment. And with the same energy and creativity that have brought Ferretti Group to the top of the nautical world. As a nautical enthusiast, I can not wait to discover the boats that will be born from the exclusive collaboration with Luca Bassani: it is easy to foresee that they will move forward the horizon of innovation and aesthetic avant-garde “.

Luca Bassani, founder of Wally

“The market today requires significant investments to develop new products and new markets. Ferretti Group has great industrial, organizational and commercial capabilities and will be able to boost Wally. I will continue my exclusive design and development activity, giving continuity to Wally’s DNA. Every year and the effort to build the brand will have a following. I could not wish anything better for Wally’s life. “

Wally joins the Ferretti Group and the collaboration for the construction of the first Wally yacht in the Ferretti age is now called 48 Wallytender. The new yacht retains all the features that have distinguished Wally up until now, that is, to build modern, clean and fresh boats that are quick and easy to drive.

On the new 48 Wallytender has been transferred in a modern way much of the experience gained over the years for the construction of the motor yacht Wally Tender or his older brother Wally Power 47 and for some solutions also Wally Power 118 the most famous motor yacht to the world of the Wally brand.

48 Wallytender is a 14.50 meter long boat where design and technology are perfectly integrated with performance and comfort. It represents the ideal solution to reach tourist destinations with speed and safety and maximum maneuverability while enjoying navigation on open spaces. Also perfect to enrich the trips of the owners of the maxi yachts to reach remote places hidden areas where it is not possible to moor with a bigger boat.

The most marked development compared to the previous versions concerns the increase in internal volumes to obtain a more habitable cabin with bathroom and shower, increasing the freeboard while maintaining the essential aesthetics used by Wally.

The main feature of this boat, however, remains the exterior. The deck has been developed to experience the sea in complete relaxation and security to the open area both when sailing and when standing still. In the cockpit guests can enjoy comfortable seating and enjoy the dining area thanks to the kitchen cabinet equipped with two cooking plates, a sink and an external fridge (another fridge is also found in the cabin).

During navigation, the seats in the cockpit can be positioned facing the road, while when standing still, they reposition around the dining table.

At the stern there is a large and well-equipped sunbathing area protected by deep side walls. On command these walls open up by increasing the available space of the stern platform. At the mooring this platform integrates perfectly with a retractable passarella to facilitate the boarding of guests. The same passarella that then turns into a ladder with five comfortable steps for an easy ride back to the edge after a swim.

At the bow of the boat we find the command area protected by a hardtop, with a pair of ergonomic seats. But also the cockpit and the bow bridge can be repaired by ultralight folding bimini that can be dismantled among other stowables in the locker behind the seats. Additional very useful lockers for storing water games such as an inflatable SUP and diving equipment are located under the bow sundeck or in the upper section of the stern sundeck under which a large storage space is located.

The machine room can be accessed by completely lifting the aft sundeck where we find for the standard configuration the new Volvo Penta IPS650 engines (coupled for a maximum power of 1020 hp) equipped with joysticks and able to reach a maximum speed of 38 knots.

The hull is protected by a built-in fender for maximum protection during maneuvers along the docksand hidden mooring bollards . The anchoring operations are facilitated by the presence in a hatch at the bow of a particular Besenzoni system, equipped with an extending arm.

About this, Luca Bassai commented:

The new 48 Wallytender is proof that the Wally DNA, with its immediately recognizable design, high performance and flexibility of use, continues with the partnership with Ferretti Group. Since joining the motor yachting market in 2001, the Wallytender has represented the desire to experience the sea in the open air and the pleasure of day-boating navigation. Today – he underlined – we are proud to introduce to the market the renewed version of the original Wallytender, where these concepts are further developed “.
