THE LUXURY YACHT A SAIL VERTIGO THE JEWEL OF THE SEA

Many sailing yachts are built every year by shipyards around the world but only a few at the end are excellent is certainly one of these is called Vertigo built in 2011 immediately awarded in May 2012 as a superyacht of the year between sailing yachts over 40 meters, then receiving yet another confirmation also obtaining the prestigious Design Awards for its category.

Designed by Philippe Briand, the interiors are by Christian Liaigre, under the supervision of project manager Andrew Senn, built at the New Zealand shipyard. Alloy Yachts was also the largest he ever built.

With a length of 67.2 meters (222 feet) in length, it is the largest sailing yacht built in the southern hemisphere, it took a total of 940 thousand hours of work to build it. A real gem of the sea really surprising for the research of the materials used and for the attention to detail and the refinement of each element.

The construction of the boat had as its first objective to provide a very comfortable ship to bring its owner and his family all over the world in total safety. The process was long, but in the end all the appropriate solutions were found. Starting from the length that has reached 67.2 meters because the boat must not simply manage the unfavorable weather fronts, but must also be able to overcome them.

The owner of this superyacht is the communication magnate, the Australian billionaire Rupert Murdoch, who has already owned Rosehearty, another 56-meter luxury sailboat built by Perini Navi. Both Vertigo and Rosehearty are currently rented at the same rate of around $ 300,000 a week, but Vertigo is still used by the communications magnate family, especially when the Rosehearty is hired.

Vertigo is an extremely “sailing-sensitive” sailing ship reaching a speed of almost 20 knots, with a true wind of 20 knots. When the sail is not used, the propulsion takes place through two 1450 kW Caterpillar engines, which reach a maximum speed of 18 knots and maintain a cruising speed of 13.

The project in some aspects has been influenced in its implementation by the specific access to the Suez Canal and the depth of the marinas. The height to cross the Suez Canal is limited to 67 meters and a draft of 5.25 meters is really the maximum for most of the marinas. To create a well performing yacht even though it was not designed as a racing boat, it acted on a sailing surface and on an efficient keel.

The hull is dark blue and the deck has been cleverly distributed with easy access to the relaxation areas with lounges for outdoor evenings and any other kind of comfort including the pool with glass screens to offer protection from the wind. One of the features of Vertigo is the large flybridge that offers more privacy and maximum view that is usually open, but can be protected by a retractable bimini top.

The sides of the superstructure are transparent with sliding windows that bring the sea breeze and natural light inside. The bow deck has flush passavanti everything has been specially designed to create elegant and comfortable areas the winches themselves and the winches have been custom made.

The interiors are incredibly luxurious and have been designed to revive an ‘urban at sea’ environment that does not impede performance and provides a truly superior lifestyle with a master suite and five extra luxurious cabins with a very inviting gym opening onto the sea.

The boat can accommodate up to 12 people plus 12 crew. There is space below deck for a large garage that allows you to park a series of tenders and “toys”.

To make access to the water halfway easier, the sides of the hull open on both sides and create two spacious platforms just above the water, bringing air and light into the area in this area.

The owner was very satisfied with the realization of this boat that enchanted, even Leonardo Di Caprio who chose it (for rent) for a cruise in Australia

Vertigo is a truly exceptional sailing boat where some of the best technologies of the sector of our time have been employed is an attractive and luxurious sailing superyacht with comfort and well-being that make it one of the most exclusive that now sail our seas.
