Encore Seabourn ship for ultra-luxury cruises

Is the ceremony of “Seabourn Encore”, the first of two super-luxury cruise ships ordered from Fincantieri by the shipping company Seabourn Cruise Line, Carnival Corporation brand, the first cruise operator in the world, was held today at the plant in Marghera.

The ceremony was attended, among others, for the shipping company Micky Arison, Carnival Corporation Chairman, Richard D. Meadows, president of Seabourn Cruise Line and Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation, while Fincantieri, the Chairman, Giampiero Massolo and the Chief Executive Officer, Giuseppe Bono.
“Seabourn Encore” was built according to the features and cutting-edge technical solutions that make the Seabourn one of the most prestigious brand in the super-luxury segment and it will continue the modernization of the fleet started in 2009.
The unit has 40,350 gross tons, is about 210 meters long, 28 wide and can reach a cruising speed of 18.6 knots. It can accommodate 600 passengers on board, in 300 spacious suites, all with private balcony. Each guest will then enjoy an exclusive service given by a ratio of almost 1 to 1 passengers and crew.

The project of “Seabourn Encore” is particularly innovative in that oriented optimization of energy efficiency and minimum environmental impact, and construction have been adopted advanced technologies with standards that exceed the requirements of the relevant legislation.

“Seabourn Encore” will be officially presented to the public with a christening ceremony to be held in Singapore on January 7. In the presence of guests and international artists, the godmother of ship will be the world renowned soprano Sarah Brightman. The ship then will leave for his first inaugural 10-day cruise in the Sea of Java in Indonesia.
Fincantieri has built since 1990 75 cruise ships, 62 of which for different brands of Carnival, while another 26 units are under construction or about to be built in the factories of the group, including 9 for shipping companies of the US group. Cooperation between Fincantieri and Carnival Group has a remarkable strategic importance not only for the shipbuilding industry, but for the entire national economy.
