Wally 93 sailboat was born to win.

It’s not uncommon for passionate sailing shipowners after traveling around the world with their own boat do not content themselves more and want something more, such as taking part in sailing competitions not only to make numbers but to struggle to win.

Usually it is the sailboat who experiences a strong emotion when setting a route, manages to manage the boat reaching the maximum possible course for certain meteoric conditions, having the awareness then that more than that gait can not proceed. Or simply for those who love the speed that you feel at sea with the sailboat that is far higher than the one you are recording on the ground, inside a car with the sky as a roof.

In order to win it is necessary to have a sailboat that has particular characteristics, so for many it remains a dream but not for a wealthy sailor who has a very wide budget, already owning a boat Wally has asked to develop a powerful boat that has all the requisite requirements for affirmation in the most important international races. From this specific request is being realized Wally 93.

For this project, the biggest big companies in the sector were involved. The architect responsible is the famous designer Rolf Vrolijk of Judel / Vrolijk & Co.

Judel / Vrolijk & Co is a company founded in 1978 with a study associated with an international reputation formed by highly qualified designers and experienced experts in the design of sailing yachts for competition and beyond. In addition to taking care of their projects, they also work for outside customers, where a perfect combination of shapes and functions is required to achieve aesthetic performance and product performance.

Wally is developing the external profile, while the interior company will collaborate with the construction site of the Milanese company San Tabù with its craftsmanship, expertise and design Made in Italy. This boat should blend the main features of Wally with the unmistakable naval architecture of Judel / Vrolijk.

From the first information or if you want from the first rendered differs, it is evident that the boat has been designed to ensure comfort and performance, so it is competitive for racing and comfortable for cruises. 93 feet tall at 28.30 meters and 6.65 meters wide this boat also follows the Wally style style, the deck floor will be very clean with free living spaces on board well separated from those intended for maneuvering.

The project definitely benefits from the Wally 107 Open Season (former Wallycento Hamilton) lineup, the current leader of the Maxi72 World Wide Multiplayer Welsh class, also designed by Judel / Vrolijk. It is recalled that this boat is distinguished by the presence of a latest generation hull constructed with the latest technology available at launch.

Wally 93 under construction will be made with composite materials that use unidirectional high-modulus carbon fibers to reduce weight and increase rigidity. The 503-square-foot sail is particularly powerful for its displacement of just 35.5 tonnes so that the sail / displacement ratio is better than that of Wallycento. The architecture has been designed to become the most competitive of the Wally class that is very powerful and optimized for medium to light wind conditions, able to start planing with 16 knots of wind and to exceed the speed of real wind with ease.

Sailless propulsion is ensured by a single 255 hp Steyr diesel engine. A lifting keel will allow you to increase the draft from 4.5 meters to 6.2 meters to optimize the straightening moment.

Interior furnishings are still under construction. Of course we know that the cabin will be on the bow to increase privacy while the two guest cabins at the stern. A disengagement should divide the area of the shipowner from the crew area.

Choosing to make only three cabins is to provide a lot of space for guests but also privacy, thanks to the clear separation between work areas and relationships from those intended for cabins.

The debut is scheduled for the summer of 2018, in one of the most important races in the world, the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup.

I conclude with the summary of the main statements made by the two owners of this boat.

Luca Bassani, creator, founder and president of Wally, declares:

“Wally 93 fully reflects Wally’s DNA to unite exceptional cruise capabilities and exceptional performance. Also, the deck is ultra-clean with huge living spaces.

It’s so beautiful to fall in love at first sight! “

Bassani continues:

“Wally 93 benefits from the Open Season experience , Wally’s leader, Maxi72 world champion winner, also Judel Vrolijk’s project. Wally 93 is very light and powerful with a displacement of just 35.5 tons and a sail-space ratio that is even more powerful than that of Wallycentos. “

Rolf Vrolijk of Judel Vrolijk & Co., Naval Architecture Manager Wally 93, declares:

“Very powerful, Wally 93 is streamlined for the Wally Class racing circuit (a series of spectacular regattas) Performance is optimized for light and medium conditions: the yacht will have the ability to start planing with 16 knots of wind and easily able to overcome the true speed of the wind. “
